I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS TRUE AT ALL... but the fact that someone contrived this story... Lord help us.
So, I work with this girl who has a family friend that works in PR in Hollywood, and she always has fun little scoops about celeb stuff. Well, if this is true, this is just ridiculous! So, the whole Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes thing - apparently, it is, like we all thought anyway, a ridiculous PR thing. Tom Cruise was supposedly caught in bed with Rob Thomas (the lead singer of Matchbox 20) by Rob Thomas's wife, Marisol. Rob Thomas is also a Scientologist. Obviously, nobody wanted this to get out, and Marisol was going nuts threatening to expose them. I think that she might be getting paid off, but to preempt any rumors about Tom, the Scientology people as well as Tom's PR people basically recruited Katie Holmes to play this part of Tom's super-excited girlfriend, and they are just paying her a b*ttload of money. I guess they also woo'd her with promises of what this would do for her career, since she's at best a B-lister. But I guess now Marisol is so annoyed at all of the press Tom and Katie's relationship is getting, she's threatening to go public, spill the beans, and file for divorce.
I must apologize to my friend Sandy - the biggest Rob fan ever - for this... ;)
Jenn, couldn't agree with ya more .. the juicier a rumour sounds, the faster it spreads. Kinda like wildfire ... conditions vary and there is no way of determining how quickly and vastly it will spread, but if it's gossip ...
I am on the fence on this one. I don't really believe, it but then you never know. I know that being gay is more acceptable than it ever was before but I can see where he would hide the truth because honestly I do think it might hurt his career a little. It wouldn't matter to me, Tom is such an amazing actor but I would fear that he would stop getting key roles. This just seems to insane to be true, but this behavior of his is a little strange. He was such a private person before, now he is acting like a freaking dog that has been locked in a cage all day that has just seen his master walk through the door. It seems a little over the top. Either way I am disgusted.(sp?) it's late I can't think sorry:O)
It could be possible Tom Cruise was with Rob. I remember hearing a while back about how Scientology sucks people in (like a cult) If you try to leave, then they will dig up embarassing information and threaten to leak it out. John Travolta is also a scientologist and it's been rumored that he's gay too. - I know it't hard to believe, because he has biological children with wife, Kelly Preston. But some guy told me that gay men can still be attracted and have sex with women-they just prefer men. There may just be different levels of Gayness.
I'm not sure why Katie Holmes would want to marry him if this rumor were indeed true. It's one thing to pretend to be his girlfriend, but to have to be in a marriage that's a total sham doesn't make any sense to me at all. Unless she's gay herself, and doesn't care. One thing for sure is that it certainly has put her back on the radar. Before ToMKAt, she was fading out into oblivian. All of Tom's relationships seem suspect starting with Nicole Kidman, who was a completely unknown, and Penelepe Cruz who was relatively unknown until she started dating Tom Cruise. Perhaps these actresses fill out a contract to be his girlfriend for a certain amount of time and it works out for both parties..For him it clears up the gay rumors and for the actress -it helps promote her career. The other rumor about him auditioning actresses to be his girlfriend seems really strange too, - Katie must of been so desperate to bring back her lagging career that she took up his offer. It didn't matter to her that she came in 5th place on his list. How sad and pathetic. Hopefully none of it's true.

Lol oh Dana, I'm not upset about this at all. I think it's kinda funny. Good for them! If I were bi I'd go for a threesome with Rob & Mari also. :)
